Forms - (Hyungs / Poomse)

The concept of offense and defense is broken down step-by-step when one practices forms.  There are many details of technique to master.  If one can calm the mind long enough to sustain mental tranquility, balance and harmony is achieved through movement.  An immense display of grace and power can flow through the martial artist if the proper principles are applied.

Poomse or forms consists of stances, attacks and blocks controlled by a precise and deliberate thought process.  From a physical perspective, poomse is meant to be composed with  factors such as balance, power, placement and so on.  Looking at the inner approach, poomse is intended to represent expression that is heartfelt and from deep within the soul.  Together, this combination of offensive and defensive movements along with a mixture of slow and fast stepping can produce immense beauty.  Throughout your journey, you will learn many different poomse.  By doing so, in essence, you will inevitably become all-too-familiar with physical and mental discipline and will harness a force inside you that will bloom with unlimited potential.

Apparently, this entire process depends mostly upon the amount of dedication you apply towards absorbing the material during class plus personal practice.  This combination is necessary to attain mastery in not just poomse but yourself as well.
